Bank Windhoek Festival Alive and Well
"By Staff Reporter WINDHOEK The 2007 Bank Windhoek Arts Festival ensured a year of festivity and will continue to do so during 2008. This was the message yesterday during a short press briefing at Studio 77 on the activities for this month. ""Through the Bank Windhoek Arts Festival, Bank Windhoek created a platform for arts in Namibia. Therefore, Bank Windhoek will continue to promote quality arts in Namibia through the Bank Windhoek Arts Festival in 2008,"" said Michelle Oppel-Schmidt, communication practitioner of Bank Windhoek. According to Kania Vlok, Bank Windhoek's commitment towards the arts is strengthened by continuing with different arts festival events each month. During the month of February 2008, a variety of performances and exhibitions will take place. These events include: - Amy Schoeman's photographic exhibition of 'The Five Seasons' will be exhibited at Studio 77 from 28 January 2008 to 10 February 2008. - 'Emotions', an exhibition of photographs by Valentino Morgante will be exhibited at the Bank Windhoek Omba Gallery from 1 February 2008 to 2 March 2008. - Fu'Jazz is a regular bi-weekly (every second Sunday of the month), early Sunday evening Jazz and Jazz-fusion event, featuring the Warehouse Fu Jazz All Stars Band with various vocalists at the Warehouse Theatre. - Swakopmund Kunstvereinigung/Swakopmund Arts Association presents: Kabarett Theatre Distel Hotel Heimat, Ein kabaretischer on 6 February at NPS Kulturala in Swakopmund. - ROMEO Graphic exhibition of sketches taken into digital painting on 12 February 2008 at Studio 77. - KRIT present 'Die buigsaamheid van verdriet' by Joan Hambridge on 12 February 2008 at the National Library. - Swakopmund Arts Association presents: Musikalische Kostbarkeiten Aus Klassik und Romantik on 22 February 2008 at Haus der Jugend in Swakopmund. - The Warehouse Theatre presents: Spear of Culture. This is a monthly event, taking place on the last Thursday of every month, featuring Namibian choirs, cultural troupes, theatre and poetry groups, reflecting the many Namibian cultures. "
