The US may soon be beckoning for Cassia
Windhoek The United States of America (USA) may soon be beckoning for performing artist, 15-year-old Cassia Sharpley. Cassia recently participated in the 20th Annual World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), at Long Beach, California, where she captured one gold medal and three trophies in a range of categories. During her performance at WCOPA, Cassia was scouted by an international modeling agency, NTA Model Management. NTA is a boutique modeling agency based in Los Angeles, which is anything but average. The company is focused on giving personal attention clients deserve and are renowned for its agents specialising in mentoring and guiding each and every model. “At NTA, our models aren’t just another beautiful face, the agents work to provide hands-on personal attention, fully developing each client’s brand.” “I’m waiting on the management because I might move to the States but for now I want to focus on my school and complete it,” says Sharpley who is currently in Grade 10 at the Eagles Christian Academy in Windhoek. Cassia is now the world championship winner in the modeling casual junior category after competing with some of the best contestants in the world before 75 judges from the entertainment industry. Besides clinching a gold medal, she scooped silver medals in the Dance Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Modeling Formal. “I was really happy to bring the gold medal, [and to] be the world champion in this category. My silver medals are also an achievement because it shows my work is appreciated and I’m at the peak of making it bigger. Winning is an indication that I’m there but can go further, not only for myself but for Namibia,” says Cassia. The WCOPA is an annual competition for vocalists, dancers, actors, instrumentalists, models and variety acts. It is widely viewed as the Olympics of performing arts. This international meet is often cited as the official “Talent Olympics” for aspiring performers. While at WCOPA, Cassia attended and had the chance to experience the WORLDSTARS Boot Camp, an unmatched full-day comprehensive performing arts seminars and workshops given by top industry experts. “It was nerve wrecking but I’m glad I represented my country the best way I can. If it was not for God I would not have made it. This is prove that if you dream it, you must believe it and you will have it,” she says.
