2014-01-29Staff Report 2 "WINDHOEK - The towns of Oshakati, Gobabis and Mariental will host the eagerly awaited Namibia Football Association (NFA) 5-day introductory coaching course for aspiring football coaches, slated for the 10th of next month. NFA Education Officer Timo Tjongarero said this wil be the first time that the course is held outside Windhoek and the aim is to ensure those who could not make the trip to Windhoek get a chance to share in the experience of coaching. “We staged this particular courses in Windhoek for long and the biggest challenge is that most of these trained coaches are not active and now we have to rope in new coaches, who can do something in their respective communities at school or club level. The chosen three regions requested this course.” He further added that the idea of the course is also to identify promising coaches from the three town’s, who will take part in a youth coaching course to be held during March in Windhoek. “Our ultimate objective is to bring together regional coaches of the Under-17 and Under-20 teams competing in the Skorpion Zinc and the Namibian Newspaper Cup respectively. It will be a symposium of sharing ideas and introducing these coaches to the NFA philosophy of coaching and just to see how best we can equip our youth in order to take them to another level,” explained Tjongarero. The registration fee for attending the course is N$400 per participant and all would be attendants must apply within the registration period set by the NFA with all the required documents, including a handwritten CV and two passport photos to be attached to the application form. The minimum age for admission is 18 years and participants must be conversant in the English language, while an adequate level of physical fitness is expected. Furthermore, participants must be members of a club, academy or school registered and acknowledged by the NFA and must have basic technical football skills and a 100 percent participation in all lessons is required to receive a certificate, which allows the participant to apply for the NFA C-Licence Course. The closing date for registration is January 31, 2014 at 17h00, and interested parties such as clubs, schools and academies are urged to register their candidates in time. “It is also important to note that this course can only be conducted once we have a minimum of 18 participants and a maximum of 35,” Tjongarero said.
