Brands exhibition set for early June
"Windhoek Up to 35 local brands have been invited to be part of the second edition of the now annual annual local brands exhibition which started last year. This is much more than last year when only ten local clothing brands exhibited. The local clothing brand, Team Shako, has announced dates for this year’s local brands exhibition as June 2 - 4, at the Palm Tree Park, opposite the International University of Management (IUM) in town. Team Shako’s marketing manager, Naftal Nghishekwa, says they are hard at work to make this year’s event much spoken about. “We decided to organize this in a way that all brands get a great opportunity to outcast the great ideas when it comes to clothing lines in Namibia,” says Nghishekwa. He is calling for potential sponsors as the event provide young entrepreneurs with a platform for marketing themselves and their products. Namibian Breweries (Vigo) sponsored the event last year. Ndhishekwa advises those interested in exhibiting to book for their stands as early as possible at N$ 750 a stand for three days to avoid disappointment.  “Team Shako does not only concentrate on brands but there are different entertainments and different competitions, a barbecue and local Djs, which would be fruitful to the youth,” says Nghishekwa. Last year more than ten local brands exhibited their clothing lines. T-shirts, shirts, jerseys, caps, shorts, tops, panties and other accessories were all on show. Brands such as Dream Team, Dots, Waar Pas Dit, Sobisoo, Current Situation, Collabo, Proper and Walker are some of those that impressed at the exhibition last year. The main aim of the exhibition is to bring together all Namibian products under one roof and to encourage Namibians to start buying local brands instead of international ones.  “The local brands fashion show and awards ceremony will also be hosted at the end of this year, hence young entrepreneurs are invited to take part in this exhibition, to get more exposure for them to qualify for the awards,”  Nghishekwa entices.   "
