Challenging routes set out for Cycle Classic Run & Walk race

WINDHOEK – With the routes for the athletics component of this year’s edition of the annual Cycle Classic having been availed, runners are now able to familiarise themselves with what awaits them by having a trial run or practice sessions on the routes.

The athletics events, in the form of runs or a walk, slated for the early morning of Saturday 13 October, will start immediately after the kick off of the challenging mountain bike race.

To broaden the appeal of Cycle Classic and giving every participating member of a family, young or old, an opportunity to compete in this prestigious event held annually since 1999, a 10 km competitive run and a 5 km fun run and walk were added to the menu since last year.

This move proved to be extremely popular to the extent that the athletics component of Cycle Classic has been expanded this year and will include a relay race of 10 km in four stages of 2.5 km.

Booking for the mountain bike and road bike cycling races, and all runs and walks are currently open. Entry can be done online or in-store at any Pick n Pay supermarkets countrywide.

A community service and fundraising event of Rotary Club Windhoek, Cycle Classic is run this year in partnership with cycling club Windhoek Pedal Power, Quinton Steele-Botes WHS Athletics Club and T-Rex Training Tribe for the Kiddies Classic.
