Chief ‘threatened with death’ by nephew

RUNDU – Mbunza Traditional Authority leader Hompa Alfons Kaundu has turned to the police for safety after he allegedly received death threats from his 22-year-old nephew. The traditional leader has since opened a case of assault by threat.
According to the police, Kaundu was on Saturday morning confronted at his palace at Sigone village in Kapako constituency in Kavango West by his nephew, whose identity cannot be revealed before he appears in court.
“The suspect unlawfully and internationally threatened his uncle that he will kill him,” said the Kavango West Police regional commander Josephat Abel.

“We have arrested and charged the suspect, who is a relative of the Hompa, and he is due for court.” In other news, the police in Kavango West are investigating a case of theft under false pretence, whereby a 28-year-old woman was robbed N$550 by an unknown suspect, who was selling clothes on Facebook.

According to the police, the victim saw an advert of clothes being sold on the social media platform. After communicating with the seller, the victim sent money through eWallet.
According to the police, the suspect reportedly received the cash but failed to deliver the clothes. “The victim is a Namibian female, 28 years old, from Mpungu village; the transaction happened on Tuesday. No recovery and no arrest has been made; however, investigations continue,” said Abel.
