Chiefs confront Pirates in crucial game
Windhoek The battle lines have been drawn and the Legare Stadium in Gobabis is set as the battle ground when two of the town’s most adored football clubs lock horns in a do or die potential title decider this weekend. With a mere three points separating the two eternal rivals Eastern Chiefs and Epako Pirates going into the penultimate clash of the titans – football followers from that neck of the woods are bracing themselves for a titanic battle. The highly competitive Cattle Country Football Division Two League concludes its assignments this weekend, with three teams firmly in the race for the coveted league title. Chiefs and Pirates will confront each other in the main match on Sunday at 14h00 in an encounter that could decide which team will be promoted to the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Southern Stream Division One League at the end of the current campaign. With bragging rights at stake, matches between the two football giants from the Cattle Country have never failed to produce fireworks and sparks are expected to fly when the pair trot onto the field on Sunday. Sunday’s mouth-watering menu offers a bumper pack of 240 minutes of action with 12Bde Super Eagles opening proceedings in the first curtain raiser against Blue River at 12h00 (B field) while Tough Guys will be up against Omaheke United at 12h00 on the A field. Elsewhere, Leonardville entertain old foes Kom Haal Hulle (KHH) in another local derby at the Billo Nawaseb Stadium, in Leonardville at 14h00.
