City Artist Exhibits at Coast
"By Frederick Philander WINDHOEK BARBARA Pirron's creative work, a search for the essence in nature, is considered to be close to earth, closer to humanity by the director of the National Arts Gallery, fellow artist Joseph Madisia. ""The vast Namibian landscape becomes her main source for her 'soul paintings',"" Madisia at one occasion called it. Pirron, born in Germany more than four decades ago, will be exhibiting her work on January 10 at Swakopmund. ""For this, her eighth solo exhibition at the coastal town consists of open air watercolour sketches, acting as the basis for her larger and abstracted expressive collages. Also a series of large drawings of the spectacular sand desert will be on display. Pirron's concept revolves around the never ending process of renewal, resulting in a homage to the power of life,"" reads a press statement. Forty of the best works of Pirron, who holds a certificate of FA from Unam and a BA Arts degree from the University of South Africa, will be exhibited on January 10."
