No clarity on examination remarking yet
Windhoek It is too soon to tell how many learners who failed Grade 10 and 12 have applied for remarking of their subjects, the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture said. “We have not yet received applications from the schools and examination centres,” said Lilia Shaningwa of the ministry’s directorate of examinations. She recently pointed out in a telephonic interview with New Era that the closing date for remark application for Grade 12 is this Friday (January, 29). “We will have a better overview after the 1st of February,” added Shaningwa. Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Katrina Hanse-Himarwa said last week at the announcement of the Grade 12 Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) Ordinary Level results that learners should note that re-marking of scripts and checking of marks are allowed. “Information about re-marking fees is available at regional offices and examination centres,” said the minister. According to the public relations office in the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, the remarking of subjects costs N$220 per subject while checking of marks is N$60 per subject. These would be done on request.
