The next Classic @ The Castle take place at the Heinitzburg tomorrow from 17h00 until past sundown.
WINDHOEK The respected classical flutist Hans Peter Drobisch joins Uli and Jürgen to form the ‘Funky Trio’, an ensemble that performs classical music without taking the genre too seriously. So expect the odd Beatles or Michael Jackson song – performed the ‘classical’ way. Classics @ The Castle is fast establishing itself as a highlight on the monthly Windhoek entertainment calendar since emerging on the scene more than a month ago. Talking Violin, that is Júrgen Kriess on violin and Uli Busch on acoustic guitar, treated a full house at the Heinitzburg Garden Terrace to live music by Paganini, Mozart and Vivaldi as well as by the great composers of Spanish classical guitar music, Enrique Granados, Isaac Albéniz and Manuel De Falla. Jürgen Kriess studied violin at UCT and continued at the Musik Hochschule Trossingen in Germany, where he obtained a music teacher’s diploma. Ulrich Busch hails from the school of Prof B Hebb from the Hochschule Für Künste in Bremen, Germany, and was taught by Frank Bungarten, Hanover, in the higher art of solo rendition. He attended master classes by internationally recognized guitar virtuosos Manuel Barrueco, Pepe Romero, Roberto Aussel and David Russell. Hans Peter Drobisch studied solo flute performance at the Hochschule Der Künste in Berlin and acquired the relevant teacher’s diploma. He performed regularly with the Rias Youth Orchestra and later with the Berlin Academic Orchestra. The programme includes music by Mauro Giuliani, Gabriel Faure, Enrique Granados, Isaac Albeniz and Dmitri Shostakovic – interspersed with music by the great German composers Bach & Mozart. Classics @ The Castle takes place on the second Saturday of each month. The entrance is free and patrons are encouraged to taste some of the cakes, tapas and other culinary goodies, specifically prepared for the occasion by the Heinitzburg team. Hans Peter Drobisch ,Júrgen Kriess and Uli Busch who tomorrow feature in the Classic @ The Castle series that is fast becoming popular at the Heinitzburg in the Capital.
