Constipation afflicts murder accused
WINDHOEK - One of the two men who stand accused of killing Dordabis farmer Abraham Jacobus Beukes, has difficulty in emptying his bowels. New Era learned that the accused Sydney Jonathan de Klerk, 53, is unable to relieve himself when he goes to the toilet but nurses see nothing wrong with him. On Friday, family members and friends prayed for De Klerk while he lay apparently in pain on the floor at the Katutura Magistrate’s Court. De Klerk and Jonas Ndoko, 60, on Friday were remanded in custody. Magistrate George Mbundu granted the request of Bradley Basson, appearing on behalf of both the accused that De Klerk needs to see a private medical practitioner in Windhoek. The family will apparently make the necessary arrangements for further consultations. The two suspects are charged with murder and defeating the course of justice. Beukes’ head disappeared on July 4, 2014, after the police left the body in the care of the two accused when they went to Rehoboth to get assistance. The two men were left with the body and when the police returned, the head had bizarrely gone missing. They allegedly had different explanations, which the police could not disclose to the media at the time. The dismembered body was buried while the police investigation into the matter continued. Allegedly a week thereafter the skull was recovered in the vicinity where the body was found, but the ears, eyes, nose and the jaw were missing. The family, with the permission of the police, later exhumed the coffin and reburied the skull with the body. Anthony Wilson is the prosecutor in the matter.
