Controversial CEO Back in Hot Seat
"By Petronella Sibeene WINDHOEK Embattled chief executive officer of Karibib Lydia Kandetu is back at work, the Ministry of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development has confirmed. Kandetu was in March 2008 suspended from the Karibib Municipality without any reasons being given in a letter of suspension co-signed by the mayor of Karibib, Aldelheid Hamukoto, and chairperson of the management committee Titus Naboth. Permanent secretary in the ministry Erastus Negonga told New Era that Kandetu was re-instated as the CEO of the town after the ministry found no merit in the charges against her. ""She resumed work on June 5, 2008,"" the permanent secretary confirmed. A week after the suspension of Kandetu, the ministry requested the council to forward the charges to the minister's office. After the charges were scrutinised, the ministry found no substance in the allegations and instructed the return of Kandetu to her office. Kandetu could not be reached for comment. Meanwhile, Negonga says the ministry will have to build capacity at Karibib. "
