Unsure as to how much to charge for your services or artwork, or want to learn about productising, local creatives now have the opportunity to learn more about these topics in a workshop tomorrow.

Hosted by the Namibian Arts Association (NAA) at their offices along Robert Mugabe avenue and presented by Beso Media under its ‘I Create Namibia’ project, the workshop themed ‘Costing and Pricing’ will explore the mindset of individuals as entrepreneurs, as well as how mindsets have an effect on their value and in turn the pricing system.

“If you are keen to think of your business like a start-up founder? During this talk, we will learn about applying the business model canvas to your creative work and take the first steps in productising your art as presented by Auri Evokari,” explained Beso Media founder, Betty Sibeso

Evokari is a doctoral researcher, consultant and coach who researches and designs initiatives to help start-ups flourish in the Sub-Saharan Africa. 

With a diverse background in start-up ecosystems such as in Finland, Evokari will guide and teach business people about applying the business model canvas to their creative work and take their first steps in developing their art into products.

The workshop includes a panel discussion that will explore pricing and costing creative services. The panel comprises creatives, creative entrepreneurs and business finance experts.

Among them is Natache Sylvia Iilonga, the current NAA chairperson, creative director of Black Court Studios and architect in training. Iilonga has experience in public engagement which has covered various platforms and topics such as public spaces, gendered spaces, decolonisation of art and domesticity.

Also on the panel is Oshoveli Shipoh, who has spent over a decade of professional years in the advertising industry and has attained multiple awards for directing films and others such as the Loerie Award in South Africa and a Namibian Gecko Award. 

The workshop will conclude with a creative segment in the form of a photo montage facilitated by the NAA.

Business and creative minds are thus invited to attend the event for business growth. 

Meanwhile ‘I Create Namibia’ is a series of creative workshop events being hosted since 2017. 

These workshops aim to teach and act as a networking hub for attendees, and set out to educate, inform, inspire and motivate Namibian creatives on the creative economy and how to contribute to it.
