Councillor’s office assists budding entrepreneurs

David Adetona

The Windhoek West constituency office recently donated equipment and materials to the value of N$150 000 to self-employed and small entrepreneurs as part of efforts in fulfilment of government policy of job creation through the Income Generating Activities (IGA) programme in all the communities. The equipment or materials are given to community economically viable self-employed and small entrepreneurs to support and build capacity for social or economic development that ensure job creation in the constituencies.

The beneficiaries received materials or equipment such as embroidery, industrial sewing, ice cream maker-mixer, drilling and welding items, as well as the chest freezer, digital camera, stainless steel ladders, toolbox, professional umbrella and daylight lamps for art studios, (drawing and painting). Again, the beneficiaries received dining chairs with tables and many other items that aim at sustainable employment-creation in the constituency.

The projects supported include welding, tailoring, catering, salon, arts and craft studios that promote entrepreneurship, self-employment and at the same time boosting employment to others

Most of the beneficiaries were thankful and acknowledged the value of the council and constituency office’s assistance and support to the growth of income generating activities programme in the communities of the region.
