Court acquits Kandji on corruption
WINDHOEK - Katutura Central Councillor, 43-years-old Ambrosius Kandji was yesterday acquitted of corruption charges by Magistrate Ruth Herunga in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court. Magistrate Herunga acquitted the councillor, as there was no evidence. The councillor faced two corruption charges under the Anti-Corruption Act (ACC). Court documents indicated that while he was employed by the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture, between August  01 and 10 2007, he unlawfully, directly or indirectly and corruptly used his office or position in the ministry to obtain gratification for himself or for the benefit of another person by driving a vehicle that belongs to the ministry for private purposes. The councillor was arrested on August 20, 2007. His trial commenced last year on September 05. Mel Harmse represented the councillor.
