2006-06-30Staff Report 2 The rainy season of 2005/2006 was an extraordinary one, praise the Lord! When I took a letter to the management of Ster Kinekor, asking them not to screen the 'Da Vinci Code' I did this because I did not want a film that might dishonour the name of the Lord Jesus Christ allowed in our nation. Anything that dishonours the Lord Jesus Christ, gives the enemy Satan a foothold in our lives. So now the Da Vinci Code is being screened and in Namibia we are busy with a nation-wide immunization action against polio. Any connection? We cannot know for sure at present can we? What we can know without any doubt is that the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is drawing near and that time for this world is running out, and we as people must be ready to go either to heaven or to hell. We are in the time of the end. It is clear to see, if our spiritual eyes are open, that the Biblical warnings are happening all around us, From the King James Version of the Bible under 'Signs of the end' Luke 21:11, The Lord Jesus Christ speaks: 'And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places and pestilences and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.' The Christian Church is the vehicle that God will use to usher in the end time harvest. Having said this, the Church must recognise the signs even beforehand. It is said before an earthquake is about to occur, it has been noticed that shakes leave their hiding place because of the tremors. Even so the Church must be aware of the spiritual tremors. Satan, the enemy is out to discredit the Word of God A very clear example is the increase in women abuse. The Lord's instruction is: Ephesians 5: 25 - 28: 'Husbands love your wives even as Christ also loved the Church and gave himself for it that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word that he might present it to himself a glorious Church not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.' Being aware of the woman abuse situation in our nation and probably worldwide, the Church has a responsibility to remind men continuously to remind men continuously of the special kind of love the Lord wants husbands to have for their wives, because the treatment of a husband of his wife or children's father of their mother affects the family unit in a way that has lasting impacts. The Lord Jesus Christ is coming back for a Church without spot or wrinkle. It is only because of God's love for the whole world and because of his kindness that the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ has not taken place yet. John 3:16 -17: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world through him might be saved. Biblically the only reason why the promise has not been fulfilled is this 2 Peter 3:9 King James Version of the Bible: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness but is longsuffering toward us not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
