Dad catches daughter’s rapist red-handed

A father from Oshikoto region received the shock of his life this week when he discovered a man raping his young daughter.
The 29-year-old suspect was caught in the act while allegedly defiling the five-year-old girl on Wednesday at around 18h00.
The incident happened at a village in Eengodi constituency of Oshikoto region.

According to the police, the suspect pounced on the minor as she was returning home alone after escorting her grandmother to a nearby homestead.

The incident was confirmed by Oshikoto crime investigations coordinator Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua.
“The victim walked the grandmother to a neighbour’s house and was told to go back, and while on her way back met the suspect who picked her up and carried her to his room and raped her,” said Katjiua.

“The victim’s father got worried and started looking for her. Upon the search, he tracked footprints of the girl until where she stopped and continued to pursue the other tracks of an adult which led to the suspect’s room where he was found in action.”
The suspect was arrested and is due to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court today.

Meanwhile, two more rape cases were registered with the police, with one involving a 31-year-old woman who was allegedly raped while asleep.

“It is alleged the suspect entered the complainant’s room, pulled down her pants and panties and had sexual intercourse with her. The victim was heavily drunk and only woke up after the suspect was done and found herself half-naked and wet, while the suspect sat next to the bed,” said Katjiua.

Furthermore, Katjiua said a minor girl aged 12 also fell victim when a man entered her room while she was asleep. The suspect woke her up and then ordered the victim to undress before raping her.
The incident happened on 15 January also in the Oshikoto region. “Efforts to arrest both suspects are underway. It has been difficult to arrest lately due to heavy rain experienced for the past days, but suspects are known.”
