Walvis Bay

At least one person died and five others were injured in an accident that occurred yesterday morning at the Swakopmund roadblock. The deceased was identified as Malachi Goabeb.

According to the Namibian police at Walvis Bay the deceased was travelling as a passenger in a Volkswagen Jetta from Arandis to Swakopmund while a Toyota pickup was travelling from Swakopmund to Arandis.

The police said both drivers of the two vehicles made a U-turn and in  the process collided with each other.

Two of the injured were transferred to Windhoek yesterday for further medical attention due to the seriousness of their injuries.
