Firstly, let me express my appreciation that you, as a member of our legislative body are willing to take time off to debate a member of the public. This can only bring parliament to the masses. Let us hope that this is the beginning of more productive debates that would also help raise the quality of debates in our August house. Your visit to Ombili, of course was debated with great enthusiasm. Some saw it as a great opportunity to see how the 99 percent lives, while others, with a more cynical outlook to life, saw it as a ploy to win votes. The fact that you haven’t had more sleepovers since then may be proof to our assertions. In any case, our debate hinges on parliament and its proposed accoutrements. I have asserted that you, like many politicians are for the building of the parliament and the proposed parliamentary village. Am I wrong in saying that the DTA, as the official opposition has been in support of the new parliament building? What side were you on during the debate on this matter? Did you oppose the proposed parliamentary village? If you did, under what conditions? Did you oppose the salary increase of political office bearers? It has been reported that members of parliament earn around N$51 000 per month. That is my yearly salary. Yet you have said on record that the members of parliament are underpaid. Can you give clarity on this issue? I am against the parliament building and I believe that you, like your fellow members of parliament from Swapo look at your interests first before you look at the country’s interests.
