Dee’A launches ‘Human’ visuals

   Ranjeni Efraim

Dedicated to seeing an end to gender-based violence, singer Dee’A on Wednesday launched the music video of his new song ‘Human’, which is part of his next album.

Dee’A, real name Leopold Vatilifa, said during the video’s launch that the horror of losing a close female cousin to GBV about five years ago pushed him to compose the song, which he hoped will be instrumental in the campaign against GBV.

Speaking to VIBEZ!, Dee’A said human beings by nature are bound to have intrinsic will and value but there must be no room for subjecting another human being to absolute torture and violence.

“A human is not inherently evil, it’s just naturally sinful and that’s why a human is redeemable, maybe like the harp prayers in the presence of King Saul,” he explained.

Dee’A said the song is to comfort and offer a soothing touch to the disturbed soul.

One of his fans, Frederieg Angula told VIBEZ! at the launch that the song will play a paramount role to both the victim and perpetrators of GBV in different ways.

“It creates awareness to the nation – both males and females because women also commit gender-based violence,” said Angula.

Dee’A further said the problem of GBV persists and still needs to be addressed, and “We won’t stop until we see change”.

The singer called on Namibians to seek emotional support from psychologists when they feel a need, saying they should not fear to speak out on the circumstances they encounter in their lives.
