Deizzy to proudly hand over Miss Youth Namibia title
WINDHOEK-The young aspiring model and the reigning Miss Youth Namibia for two years (2013/14), Dorcas Mbevo, popularly known as Deizzy, says she is happy to hand over the title of Miss Youth Namibia to the next queen this Saturday. The new Miss Youth Namibia 2015 will be crown at the Nampower Convention Centre on Saturday.  Deizzy urges to who ever wins the title to keep up the spirit of helping other youths, the way she has been doing for the past two years. “During my two years of reigning as Miss Youth Namibia, I concentrated on charity works, where I collected clothes, foods and other accessories that I was able to collect and gave them to vulnerable families who were the victims of fire or lost of properties within my community,” says Deizzy. She adds that she also delivered motivational speeches at several youth gatherings such as the National Young Woman Christian conference. “During my years of modelling, I have also acquired so much experience that I now use as a tool to guide and train others. Being Miss Youth Namibia for two years enabled me to interact with different people around the country and abroad and learn from them, which is one of my life experiences that I will forever cherish and be grateful for. I am, however, heartily grateful to the National Youth Council for the opportunities and support I have received from them for the past two years,” appreciates Deizzy. Young people must at all times remain focussed on their education while persuading the modelling industry, is her advise to those interested in modelling. “Modeling industry is very tough, hence the reason why education is needed to succeed in life as well as in this industry. To the finalists, I wish you all the best of luck. I would love to use this opportunity to invite the entire Namibian nation to come witness the crowning of Miss Youth Namibia 2015 with pride,” she says. This year’s pageant is being held under theme “Youth Celebrating 25 years of successful independence and democracy”. Eleven finalists will be competing again one another for the title. Various local artists are among the different  entertainment activities line up for the guests. The NYC has been organising this beauty pageant which started as Miss National Youth Council as part of National Youth Week for the past eight years. In 2013, the committee proposes to change the name to Miss Youth Namibia to cater for all young women in Namibia and not solely those within the NYC structures as in the past. National Youth Week is a statutory national event earmarked for Namibian young women and men to get together to exchange cultural, economical, political and views on social issues. The main objective for this pageant is to identify a young woman who will serve as an ambassador for the National Youth Council and for youth in general. Tickets for the pageant are N$30 in advance and for VIPs are N$100 which include light snacks and are available from the NYC.
