2015-10-12Staff Report 2 "Windhoek An Augustenium schoolteacher is battling for his life in the intensive care unit of a Windhoek hospital after he attempted to commit suicide following his alleged brutal murder of two sisters in Khomasdal on Friday. The police yesterday dimissed rumours that the teacher, whose name cannot be revealed pending his appearance in court, had died. He is alleged to have been in an intimate relationship with 18-year-old Jacqueline Kuaseua, a Grade 10 learner at Augustenium Secondary School. The teenager was killed together with her elder sister, 30-year-old Cecilia Zembuu Kuaseua. Sources claim the schoolteacher and the slain learner were on the verge of a break-up before the cowardly fatal attack. The teacher’s Facebook profile reveal he was contemplating his act for quite a while. On the Facebook site he repeatedly declared that he loved the learner, while posting photos of dead bodies from the internet. His posts, written mostly in Otjiherero, were often of a threatening nature. The school principal Rudolf Matengu informed President Hage Geingob, who visited the scene on Saturday, that the murder suspect taught Otjiherero to Grade 10 and 12 learners, including the deceased who wore a school uniform at the time of her death. Police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi yesterday confirmed that the double murder suspect was indeed in ICU, following a failed suicide attempt when he allegedly drank battery acid water. It is understood that he also tried to hang himself. “The bodies are at the mortuary for autopsy which will determine the cause of death and whether the victims were raped,” she said. It seems however that the two were clubbed to death with a hard object before being stoned and their eyes were stabbed with a sharp object. It is alleged that the male teacher supervised a class on Friday, which Jacqueline attended, before the murders took place later in the day. The teacher was arrested on Friday evening between 22h00 and 00h00 at Augustenium premises after he was found attempting to commit suicide. A suicide note, whose contents have not been revealed, was found on him. In one of his latest Facebook posts, he said: “Mehepa ozongumbiro arikaneye ndji kumbireye po ndji twaerereye kovahonge mbe kumbira ovandu (I am in need of prayers or please take me to pastors who pray for people).” Another post depicting a picture of a dead woman lying next to a man reads, “This ghost is haunting me again. Please help before it’s too late.” A family member said the sisters’ mother, Uakoha Kuaseua, is so heartbroken that on Saturday she was admitted to the Omatjete clinic in Erongo Region, where she was receiving treatment for high blood pressure. A family member who yesterday spoke on behalf of the grieving mother said the daughters were their mother’s breadwinners, especially Cecilia. “Among her six siblings the elder one (Cecilia) was her mother’s right hand. Cecilia was like a close friend of the mother. The mother is currently on sedatives because her blood pressure is so high. Every time she wakes up she calls her daughters’ names. She says, ‘why did they leave me alone?’,” the family member said. The close relative added. “Since they came to Windhoek, they had never begged for food from neighbours, because they worked hard even if they were struggling. Even when they went to the mother at the farm at Omatjete, they would always take bread home. It is a very big loss for the whole family and we want to see justice prevail.” Police investigations continue to determine what happened on Friday afternoon and what motivated the killings.
