WINDHOEK – Police seized a marijuana plant, money and cocaine in a police operation in the early hours of yesterday, Inspector Slogan Matheus from the police public relations unit informed the media yesterday. Three men were arrested, two in separate houses in Olympia and one in Hochland Park. They are expected to appear in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court today. The two-metre marijuana plant has not been evaluated yet but it’s believed to be worth N$50 000. It was found in a house in Olympia, Matheus informed the media during the weekly briefing. The police were led to the houses by informers. In Hochland Park drugs worth N$7 500 were found, as well as cash of N$8 450. In another house in Olympia, 30 grams of cocaine worth N$14 500 were found. The suspects – all males – are aged 39, 36 and 32 respectively. The marijuana plant is a record bust for 2015, Matheus added. Cars were also seized. The money and cars could be forfeited to the state as they are believed to be proceedings of crime. Under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act (POCA) they will be forfeited to the state.
