DTA to hold elective congress
Windhoek The DTA of Namibia will be holding its two-day elective congress next month, the party’s acting secretary general Elma Dienda said in a statement issued yesterday. The elective central committee meeting scheduled for July 1-2 will elect a new secretary general and its deputy and 40 central committee members. Dienda said pending approval the party will also draft a new constitution. “The executive committee formally approved the constitutions adopted by the DTA Women’s League and the DTA Youth League at their respective congresses in 2015,” Dienda said. “The executive hereby formally gives notice to the central committee delegates to the upcoming CC meeting and all party members of a complete overhaul of the current DTA constitution of 29 September 2001,” she added. She said copies of the draft constitution can be obtained from the regional chairperson and the heads of wings. The party also announced the election campaign was now open as of yesterday at 12h00.
