Education promises reimaging in 2022

As part of its mandate, the education ministry this year looked into the international but also national space to adhere to the motto of reimaging and recovery education with renewed enthusiasm and dedicated efforts.

This vision is in line with President Hage Geingob’s New Year’s message where he dubbed the year 2022 – ‘The year of Reimaging’. Geingob called on everyone to think anew as a nation and move forward with renewed enthusiasm and vision.

“There is much hope that lies ahead in the new year, in which we endeavour to rebuild our lives, our homes, our communities and our nation. We have overcome The year of Resilience, we have stayed the course, held hands, and emerged stronger. Now, it is time to start with a clean slate and enter the new year with a positive outlook. A new and different mental picture should guide the actions and processes we will undertake in The year of Reimaging,” Geingob said as part of his new year message.

In an interview with New Era, education executive director Sanet Steenkamp said in 2022, the ministry welcomes learners and teachers to the two-semester system.

This she says will give everyone ample time to ensure they act deliberately and execute plans.

Equally, she stressed that teachers will have targets for their subjects which they will share with learners and parents.

According to Steenkamp, these targets will be shared and monitored across the year so the ministry makes sure the learners meet the most basic competencies of reading, writing, and excel in mathematics.

“Those are crucial things. We are going back to basics in 2022. So we welcome back our teachers with dedication, renewed vigour, and enthusiasm, irrespective of whether they are in-state or private, urban, or rural schools. Every teacher is at the heart of education recovering,” she motivated.

Therefore, she said there is a need for learners and parents to work together with teachers and challenge them when the need arises, adding this is an important year where the ministry dedicates its efforts to have deliberate actions and academic success.
