2015-11-24Staff Report 2 Windhoek After the Livestock Producers Organisation (LPO) came to the conclusion that it would not justify the costs to determine the extent and prevention of venereal diseases, it was decided that the Dordabis, Excelsior and Otjikondo Farmers Associations would be used through a pilot project to determine the extent of the venereal diseases in their vicinity. With the assistance of a veterinarian from Agra ProVision and financial support from the LPO, the tested more than 50 bulls per region. The result of the testing indicated that venereal diseases were found in more than 20% of their bulls, which is alarming. The LPO decided to launch an information campaign through pamphlets and requested that the eradication of venereal diseases in cattle be driven further on Farmers Association level. 2015-11-24Staff Report 2
