Eric Louis and Efdee divorce

Emilie Shimbali

While some musicians have found success on their own, others have partnered with labels and found it to be an important part of their growth. So, the recent announcement that creative artist and singer, Eric Louis, and Efdee record label have parted ways, raised many eyebrows in the industry, with some wondering if things had gone south between them.

The singer only signed with the label this year, and they did some great work together in a short period. Louis refused to reveal anything, and sources close to him too, saying: “We choose not to comment on anything related to that”. Efdee is one of the country’s largest record labels, best-known for producing quality gospel artists such as DV8, Rosvida and Franklin.

The label’s management announced on Monday in a 38-word press release that he was no longer part of the label. “Efdee Music Productions would like to announce that Mr. Eric Louis is no longer affiliated with the aforementioned label. Mr. Louis has ended his contract with the record label, and we wish him well in his future endeavours,” reads the statement.

Leopold Vatilifa, owner of the Efdee label, told VIBEZ: “For the sake of transparency and effective institutional governance, Efdee thought it was best to announce his termination in the same way it announced his signing to the label. His departure was also not contentious”.

However, the artist is not letting the grass grow under his feet, and is already on his way to release his first gospel music video. Its official release is set for the Whatagwan entertainment show on the national broadcaster this Friday.
