Excitement high for first edition of Husab Marathon
2015-08-20Staff Report 2 Windhoek The much-anticipated maiden edition of the Husab Marathon has received close to 200 entries and organisers have promised to make it one of the biggest events on the Namibian sporting calendar. The Swakop Uranium Mine sponsored race is set for the coastal town of Swakopmund on September 5, with athletes from all corners of the country expected to grill each other for top honours. Due to the overwhelming interest, organisers have decided to extend the closing date for entries to August 31. The event will consist of 5-km and 10-km races that will complement the gruelling marathon. Transport will be provided to runners from the Dome in Swakopmund and the town council building in Arandis. Minibus taxis will also pick up runners in Nathanael Maxuilili Street, Kuisebmond. There is no entry fee. Handsome prizes have been lined up for the various winners in the marathon and 10-km races, while the rest of the participants can look forward to lucky draws. Entry forms can be obtained from Frank Slabbert at Swakopmund Striders (tel. 081 240 3383) or from the Swakop Uranium Mine offices. 2015-08-20Staff Report 2
