"By Staff Reporter WINDHOEK The Police's Public Relations Department said in its daily crime bulletin yesterday that they had arrested a 17-year-old youth for allegedly killing 35-year-old Paulus Kandume. The suspect allegedly shot the victim in the stomach with an arrow after a quarrel at Omatunda village in the Ohangwena region. Kandume died on the way to hospital. The Police also report that rapists who violated a woman of 20 years and a 23-year-old man, are still at large. At Limanya village in the Ontanaga area, a 27-year-old woman was arrested for drowning her newly-born baby in a water well. According to the Police, the incident took place in August after the suspect gave birth to the baby at the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital. Two other suspects were arrested in Keetmanshoop after allegedly stabbing 20-year-old Jacobus Shipanga in the neck at Mahoganies shebeen. He died at the scene. The Police have issued a stern warning to members of the public who assault members of the Police Force whilst performing their duties. Anybody found guilty of such an offence will be liable to a fine not exceeding N$20ÃÆ'Æ'ÀÃ...ÃÆ''šÃ‚ 000 or imprisonment for a period of five years, or both. ""The Namibian Police will not tolerate behaviour calculated to hinder or obstruct officers in the execution of their duties or functions. Therefore, a stern warning is issued to any person who dares to engage in such action to desist forthwith,"" said the Police who added that members of the public are partners in the fight against crime and that they are expected to render their support."
