Gazza facilitates back to school campaign
Windhoek Multi-award-winning star Lazarus Shiimi, popularly known as Gazza, postponed the launch of his latest music CD to facilitate donations in the Back to School and Stay@School campaign that targets marginalised communities in the Otjozondjupa and Omaheke regions over the next two weeks. Shiimi, who is also the ambassador for education, told reporters that his passion for education and the well-being of children motivated him to take that decision. Various stakeholders on Tuesday made pledges to the Division of Marginalised Communities in the Office of the President, ranging from N$3 000 to N$60 000. The Back to School and Stay@School campaign is an annual event aimed at encouraging, motivating and inspiring learners from marginalised communities to stay in school and be educated. Sponsors such First National Bank of Namibia (FNB), the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino, the Social Security Commission (SSC) and Namcor were among the many companies that made pledges to help learners to obtain schoolbags, stationery, printers and copy paper.
