Geingob off to SADC summit
President Hage Geingob will today leave for the 2016 SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government that is to take place in the Kingdom of Swaziland. The 36th ordinary summit is expected to launch the SADC regional water strategic action plan. There will also be a lecture by former president of Tanzania Jakaya Kikwete, while the president of the African Development Bank Akinwumi Adesina will deliver a statement. Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma the chairperson of the African Union Commission will also deliver a statement, and so too the executive secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Dr Carlos Lopes. Expected to make a maiden statement is the President of Tanzania John Magufuli. Geingob will be accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi- Ndaitwah, the Minister of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development Immanuel Ngatjizeko and the Minister of Finance, Calle Schlettwein. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for August 30, and the summit sessions commence thereafter.
