Windhoek President Hage Geingob is set to meet with Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, during the Namibian head of state’s visit to London next week. Press secretary in the presidency Albertus Aochamub confirmed to New Era late yesterday that the Prince Andrew offered to host lunch for President Geingob, who is also scheduled to meet Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace the same day. Prince Andrew - the second son and third child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh - has showed keen interest in the conservation of Namibian wildlife and is expected to offer views, or even assistance, on how Namibia can combat rhino poaching, which has escalated in recent years. Also set to meet Geingob and his delegation is James Duddridge, the United Kingdom’s Minister for Africa. Duddridge visited Namibia in June this year. Geingob will first visit France where he is set to meet with President Francoise Hollande and investors from that country before arriving in London on Tuesday, 29 November. He is slated for a series of activities, including a meeting with the business community in the city dubbed the financial capital of the world. The visit to Europe is in line with Namibia’s gradual shift towards economic diplomacy, aimed at engaging in economic conversations with nations and businesses willing to invest in Namibia.
