Gonzales here for 'Road to World Titles' boxing bonanza
WINDHOEK - With only three-days left before Namibia’s biggest boxing event this year gets underway, preparations are right on track to host the boxing bonanza. Chief organizer of the coming boxing extravaganza Nestor Tobias of MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy, says they are looking forward to yet another successful boxing event and revealed that Argentine boxer Leonardo Gonzales quietly slipped into the country yesterday to prepare for the biggest fight of his life. Gonzales will square off against Namibia’s Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses, hoping to wrestle the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Lightweight international title away from the Namibian wunderkind. Gonzalez is a world-class opponent and the hard hitting former Namibian world champion could not have asked for a better challenger than Gonzales and promised local boxing fans the time of their life by outclassing Gonzalez come Saturday. “I have prepared very well for this fight and will make sure that I remain the champion at the end of the fight,” said the confident Moses, ahead of their face-off in the Wernhill Park Shopping Mall tomorrow at 11h30. The two will be meeting for the first time ever. Members of the public are also invited to come out in large numbers to meet the two pugilists in person. Tyson Uushona will also come face to face with his opponent Kaizer Mabuza from South Africa, while Vikapita ‘Beast Master’ Meroro will meet his challenger, Pascal Ndoma from Tanzania. “It is important to come and show support to our champions at the face-off, so we encourage people to come in large numbers to Wernhill Park because it will be an interesting affair,” Tobias said, adding that, including a special promotion where buying one ticket could land you an extra one for free. The spacious Ramatex factory will be the venue of the big showdown on Saturday, which promises to be an unforgettable boxing extravaganza with 3 title fights on the menu, including 5 mouth-watering under-card bouts. VIP tickets are on sale for N$500 with standard tickets up for grabs for N$100 at Compu-ticket. By Staff reporter
