Grade 8 pupil rapes 55-year-old woman
Omuthiya A 55-year-old woman was raped on Monday at around 19h00 allegedly by a Grade 8 learner while she was on her way home from some nearby cuca-shops. The incident happened at Onakandjangi village in the area of Omuntele. It’s alleged the 16-year-old suspect, a learner at Ondjaba Combined School, came from the bush and pushed the victim Helena Thomas to the ground. He undressed her and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. The suspect’s name is known to New Era but he cannot be named as he is still a minor. Police investigations into the matter continue, said Oshikoto Police Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua. In an unrelated incident, still at Onakandjangi village, at around 21h30 on Tuesday a 19-year-old youth allegedly raped his cousin while she was sleeping. According to Katjiua, the victim, a 30-year-old woman, was in her bedroom when the suspect entered and assaulted her before he allegedly proceeded to have sexual intercourse without her consent.
