Hosea Kutako International Airport gets more kiosks
By Staff Reporter WINDHOEK - Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has announced the addition of five new kiosks at the Hosea Kutako International Airport, thereby offering completely new products including Airport Leather Shop, ObeyYourBody (offering branded cosmetics), Namibia Filming Commission (with all Namibian produced films) and lastly Pave Jewellery, a newly built jewellery shop with products made from Namibian diamonds. The airport handles over 814 810 passengers annually and about 17 514 aircraft movements. Toska Sem, NAC’s Strategic Executive: Business Strategy commented: “Our international airport now sports a new look and we are confident that we have achieved a great retail mix, which is sure to keep our passengers browsing and buying until they have to board their flight.” She added: “We know that every airport has its own uniqueness, with its own opportunities, retail space and challenges. We, therefore, pay careful attention to distinguishing factors, such as site character, location and passenger’s movements, by balancing these elements, mixing retail and non-retail in just the right proportions to enhance passenger experience.” Sem went on to say that most airports under the NAC banner offer key services such as ground handlers, restaurants, car rental operations, short- and long-term parking, aircraft maintenance facilities and aviation fuel facilities. “Obviously at the bigger airports duty free kiosks, lounges, tax refund facilities and bureau de changes can also be found but these are not necessarily at the small airports such as Katima Mulilo or Lüderitz.” “The Namibia Airports Company recently also availed land to Namcor to put up a common fuel facility for airport users and car rental fleets and this is the first fuel retail outlet for Namcor. It is a primary objective of our Strategy 2014-2017 to improve revenue growth, achieve a 90 percent customer satisfaction and ensure a great experience at our airports,” Sem concluded.
