I Will Stick to My Sagem
"Charles Tjatindi IT is amazing to see the extent to which people go to secure the latest top-of-the-range cellphone these days. I mean, just look around - people are seen spotting the latest Nokias, Motorolas and Charlesrollas! I was recently made to feel cheap when I had to answer my 1999 Sagem cellphone in full view of Walvis Bay's 'elite'. To add insult to injury, I had to give my beloved Sagem a few knocks with my palm before it could start transmitting. Ok, beside that 'small' problem, I love my Sagem. I mean, it does the basics - receive calls, send messages, dial-up people and even has an alarm clock to keep me on time for those press conferences. That is why I just do not get it when people rave and rant about the latest Nokia model available and so on. My question as I listen to such conversation is, ""Can it prepare porridge for me?"" ""Can it propose love to a woman for me?"" As you can imagine, the response is always disappointing. You see, people would tell you that their cellphones have 4megapixels cameras, WAP access, Internet Access, MP4 players, built-in speakers and microphones, FM Radio, SQT analysis BTTY Control Mechanisms ...! I always pause to think: You know, it is really great your phone can do all that, but do you really need all of it? Least of all, do you even understand what all those codes mean? What in heaven's name in a SQT analysis BTTY control mechanism? This, my dear people is not to mention the price at which techno-junkies are prepared to obtain these devices. N$8??????'??"
