Imawida hosts 3rd round of fistball league
Windhoek The third round of the Bank Windhoek Fistball League will be hosted by Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) on Saturday, June 11. The first match in the National League A will start at 10h00, while the National League B will get underway as from 08h30. In important matches, SKW 1 will first face CFC 2 in the first match. While CFC 2 fought hard and deservingly won a set against the current champions in previous league rounds, it will be difficult to repeat that performance due to some players not being available. The second team of Cohen trails six points behind SKW 1 and will have to give everything to clinch a point. With a four-point lead Cohen 1 will be playing SKW 1 in the top encounter of the weekend at 13h00. It is expected to be as tight an affair as the previous encounter, where Cohen 1 beat SKW 1 with 5 sets to 3. However, Cohen, like several other teams, is weakened due to some players’ unavailability. Mathematically, it is possible for the Blue-Whites to already qualify for the play-off final in September, but they would have to win both games with 5-0. This seems to highly unlikely. In the National League B, SKW 2 is the crème de la crème this season. Much like CFC 1, they have won all their games in this year’s campaign and have a four-point lead over current runners-up SFC from the coast. SFC will play against DTS, who proved to be a worthy opponent in previous matches. The 2nd and 3rd placed teams after the last league round will be playing a semi-final to qualify for the play-off final. For SFC it will be very important to keep Cohen 3, who is currently third, at bay while trying to reduce the lead of SKW 2 in order to stand a chance for direct final qualification.
