Jacques Burger among rugby's toughest of all time
Windhoek According to Ireland's largest daily newspaper The Irish Independent, Namibia's former senior rugby team captain Jacques Burger is one of the toughest, roughest and most bravest rugby players to have ever played the game. In a top-15 list of the bravest ever rugby players of all time that was recently released, The Irish Independent ranked the Namibian great among some of the world's most celebrated rugby legends, such as All Blacks top man Richie McCaw, who is widely celebrated for his style of slowing down opposition. Also on the list is former Springbok star Joost van der Westhuizen and another South African Schalk Burger, as well as Welsh player Shane Williams, Ireland's Fergus Slattery and England's Jonny Wilkinson. Burger, who retired from international rugby after last year's World Cup in England, had a career spanning over nine years, which saw him amass a total of 36 caps including three Rugby World Cup appearances – in 2007, 2011 and 2015. –Additional info: The Irish Independent
