2016-05-23Staff Report 2 Windhoek Namibia’s junior middleweight boxer Anthony Jarman was on Saturday crowned the new World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan-African champion after defeating Christiano Ndombassy from Angola. Jarman won with a technical knockout (TKO) after six rounds of boxing to claim the vacant junior middleweight title at the Windhoek Country Club. The lanky Namibian went into the ring as the more determined fighter and dominated the fight from the get-go. Jarman dropped hard body punches and powerful right uppercuts on Ndombassy. The Angolan suffered the worst onslaught in round six, which led to his trainer throwing in the towel at the start of the seventh round. South African referee Jaap van Niewenhuizen stopped the fight on a TKO. Jarman’s record now stands at 15 fights with 13 wins, one draw and one loss. In the undercut fights on the night, Onesmus Nekundi became the new national champion in the featherweight category after beating Matheus Kaandala on points after 10 rounds of boxing. In a flyweight four-rounder Josua Ndemunonga beat Medestika Alweendo with a third-round knockout, while Steven Shimbonde beat Andreas Nghinaunye on points after four rounds of boxing in the welterweight category. Manfred Haimbanga and Costa Niila drew in their featherweight six-round bout, while in a catch weight fight Johannes Shitilitha beat Johannes Matheus on points after four rounds of boxing.
