2016-09-30Staff Report 2 Windhoek Budding pop and dancehall artist, Johannes Petrus, better known as Jay R, is launching her long-in-coming debut album titled Music Me, & You together at the Dragon Lounge (Paquel) in Windhoek tonight. At the launch the singer is performing tracks on the album supported by artists of the likes of I believe singer LINDA, J Black, Ndawana, The Dope Angel Crew, Allex & Shyer,The Dynamite Girls, Miss Rose, Rihanna, Indicator Boss ,Dama Monique and Sedjo Mind. His 21-track album, the music, me and you, is filled with songs showcasing his mix of love, lust, mood and aspirations and is sure to show fans why he is one of the deserving new acts on the music scene. Hailing from the northern part of the country, Jay -R knew he wanted to become a singer at a very young age. This thus drove him to become skilled at his talent which has led him to where he is today. He started recording in 2008 when a close friend hooked him up with a local producer, and thereafter he started working with some of the big names in the industry. You might have spotted him performing at various occasions. “The Music, me and you” is the title that I always wanted to give my first album, and that is exactly what happened. It’s basically, me trying to express myself, my life, my love life through music. My album is inspired by the music itself, life, love and culture. It’s about me expressing how I feel about life, love and culture through music,” says Jay-R. At the launch fans can also expect Hip-Hop and R&B artist, Eddie, AKA Mr Evicted. Special appearances by Desmond, Exit and Topsy Kim just to mention a few, are also in the offing. The show start at 19h00.
