Junior mayor to strive towards youth development
WINDHOEK-The newly elected Junior Mayor of Oranjemund, Ben Amadhila, says he will strive towards improving youth development in the town. Speaking at the inauguration of the newly elected Junior Town Council (JTC) recently, Amadhila said his council would implement fresh new projects to not only entertain the youth but also educate them on problems which pose a challenge to the youths today. He further said junior councilors need to work hard on new projects that will be of benefit to the whole community and not just to them. “I am sure the new six councilors will bring smarter and newer ideas to the table,” said Amadhila. He added that the Oranjemund Town Council is giving the youths a platform to express themselves through the JTC as a channel, to create a link between them and the town council. “The Benchmarking project was unsuccessful last year, but hopefully this year it can be made possible so that we can go out and gain experience from other towns’ junior councils and establish a great friendship between the different councils,” noted Amadhila. Outgoing Junior Mayor, Nicole Klaaste, urged the town council and the community of Oranjemund to give full support to the new Junior Town Council for them to bring transformation, and to assist the community in the normalisation of the town. “To be a leader, means you must have high standards, walk the walk and live according to what you believe in. I wish you all the best of luck and success in fulfilling your role as the Junior Town Council,” concluded Klaaste.
