KATIMA MULILO – The Katima Mulilo Town Council last week handed over a piece of land measuring 15 hectares to private developer Four Sima Properties for the construction of 200 houses.

Speaking at the site handover, mayor Lister Shamalaza said the town council is determined to bring development as their mission is to see the local authority becoming one of the best in the country.

“We are humbled that despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic this year, we are still able to work beyond our set goals in terms of service delivery, particularly land provision,” he noted. Shamalaza added that they are committed to uplifting the town and bringing much-needed change.

“As we continue in delivering land to developers, we want to see results.

Not those who will only be holding on to title deeds, but to build properties within specified time frames,” he stated.

Kwenani Simasiku of Four Sima Properties said they were honoured to be accorded the opportunity to develop land here. He explained that the prices will range between N$530 000 for a two-bedroom house to N$700 000 for a three-bedroom house. “We will construct roads, and there will be an entertainment area for the children.

We are looking at tarring roads, just to bring something different and to give Katima a new face,” continued Simasiku. They are thus looking at starting with construction early next year.
