2015-07-30Staff Report 2 Windhoek The annual Katutura Expo got going on a rather sluggish note yesterday, with many exhibitors still setting up their stalls on the first day of the exposition. The expo is meant to give exposure to small and medium enterprises (SME’s) and this year attracted over 100 exhibitors from various sectors, including small firms and start-ups, as well as established corporate and agriculture entities. “The organisation is not as proper as one would want it to be,” said one exhibitor who preferred to remain anonymous. He said one of the challenges he observed so far is that of space and location of the venue. “In future they should think of something that is more conducive, because the current venue is rather hidden.” First time exhibitor, Gisela Neis, who travelled from Arandis to market her arts and craft business, said she is looking forward to interacting with various people who will attend the expo. “So far I am happy with everything. I am so excited and I’m looking forward to displaying my products to the public,” said Neis, who was displaying a range of products at her stall. Speaking to New Era yesterday, one of the organisers, Jariyo Katjimune, explained that the delay was caused mainly by the company recruited to set up the stalls. “They didn’t have enough stalls,” she said. But, she notes that this minor setback would not have a major impact on the expo, as people are expected to come in numbers. “People should come and see what is happening here,” said Katjimune when asked what her message is to the public.
