LDS event inculcates family values
Windhoek The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in Windhoek recently organized an event to provide civic leaders, the media and the general public an opportunity to understand their faith in Jesus Christ and how their different programmes and activities contribute to strengthening families and the Namibian community at large. LDS says their activities build families through family scripture study, family home evenings, and programmes for children, the youth, and adults that strengthen Christian values and ethical behavior, as well as through humanitarian services that contribute to the alleviation of poverty and disease. LDS is a world-wide Christian church that has a membership of over 15 million people from across many countries including Namibia. The church’s Open House follows the successful hosting of the International Conference on Religious Freedom and the Law, which was held recently in Windhoek, stated Womba Nashiwa the LDS national director of public affairs. The conference was hosted by the University of Namibia (Unam) and jointly sponsored by the church’s Brigham Young University and African Consortium for Law and Religious Studies. In a way, the Open House also celebrates Namibia’s religious freedom, peace and unity, she said.
