Learners at St. Therese value achievement awards
Windhoek Learners from St. Therese Senior Secondary School in Tses in the //Kharas region, who were awarded with trophies and certificates for high marks achieved in the April and August examinations greatly appreciate the recognition, saying it encourages them to work harder next term. Grade 8 learner Taimi Asino (14) says she feels so happy because the achievements will give her the courage and determination to study harder. “I aimed for this and it became true, so now I know that hard work really pays,” she says. Ndeshihafela Lukas (17), a Grade 10 learner, says she feels like a celebrity at the school, after she was nominated as the best performer in Science and Mathematics. “I couldn’t believe my eyes when those trophies and cheques were handed to me. To my fellow learners: be hard workers, committed and dedicated, because education is the greatest equaliser,” she says. “I got an award as best male learner in Mathematics and now I really feel motivated and would like to encourage my fellow learners to study hard,” says Joseph Shilunga (17), who is currently in Grade 10. This year the school gave awards to 30 learners, who had passed the April and August examinations with the highest symbols, in order to motivate them to work even harder for the year-end examinations.
