Locals to Swing Club at Fancourt
By Carlos Kambaekwa WINDHOEK Four local amateur golfers are to tee off at the prestigious Fancourt golf course in George near Cape Town, South Africa on Saturday morning. The quartet has been thrown a lifeline after they emerged victorious from the Trustco Junior Golf Tournament at the Windhoek Country Club last year. The golfers are Muis Burger (9 handicap) Douglas Schoonbee (21 handicap), who will be joined by former Brave Warriors stalwarts Joseph Martin (10 handicap) and Amos Shiyuka (18 handicap), who both have since traded their soccer boots for the swing. Burger and Schoonbee teamed up for the Douglas Motors team while the former footballers swung the clubs in the colours of the MTC team during last year's Trustco Junior Tournament. Both teams recorded the highest nett on the day and were dully rewarded with an all-paid up trip to the mother city by the sponsors Trustco. The golfers will jet out of the country tomorrow and are expected back in Windhoek on Sunday.
