A 21-year-old man succumbed to his injuries on Valentine’s Day after he was struck with a brick on the head last week Thursday. 
Confirming the incident, police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi said the victim, who has been identified as Ananias Amutenya, and the suspect (age unknown) got into a fight over the affection of a woman in Windhoek’s Okahandja Park. 

Amutenya, who had allegedly travelled from Omuntele in the Oshikoto region to visit his girlfriend in the capital, sustained head injuries after he was hit with a brick by the suspect. 

He was taken to the Katutura state hospital for medical treatment on Thursday and was discharged. 
“However, on Sunday, the family took him back to the hospital for dressing, but he succumbed to his injuries,” explained Shikwambi.
The suspect in the case handed himself over to the police on Sunday and was arrested. 

He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Katutura Magistrate’s Court today.
The victim’s family has been informed and the police will continue investigating the matter.
