Manhunt for rape suspect
Rundu Police in Kavango East Region are investigating a case of rape that took place at midnight on Sunday when a 21-year-old woman was sexually violated and stabbed on the jaw at Shaghaya village. The suspect, who is currently on the run but the police are on his trail, was identified by the victim when she opened a case just after the incident, but his name cannot be revealed at this stage. “The suspect will face a charge of rape and attempted murder,” said Kavango East regional crime investigations coordinator Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton, who confirmed the incident. It is alleged the suspect entered the complainant’s hut, forced her on the ground and had sexual intercourse with her even though she did not consent. “He stabbed her with a knife on her left jaw. The victim is 21 years old and she resides at Shaghaya village,” Bampton further revealed. “We will get him, we are currently tracing him, investigations are underway,” said Bampton.
