Matti Safaris hosted Havana children
Windhoek The Matiti Safaris with Family of Hope hosted a fun day for about 600 venerable children in the Havanna Informal Settlement on Saturday at the Family of Hope Centre in Havanna. The Matiti team spent the day with the children at the Centre where they played with different games such as jumping castles, did face painting, engaged in a mini olympic game, pop- a -balloon (quiz competition), music game and a craft table after serving them iwth soup they prepared for them. Themed For a child to grow, a whole village is needed, Ramona Bowe, the Social Responsibility Programme Coordinator for Matiti Safaris, says “the aim of these activities was to share a cup of soup in this cold winter and to provide a bit of entertainment to these children. This was theoretically supposed to have been celebrated on the Day of the African Child, June 16 but because it was on a Tuesday, and being a labour [working] day, we unfortunately could not accomplish the operation, due to work obligations.” Founder and Full time Director of Family of Hope, Abigail Bachopi, says the centre feeds close to 250 children Monday to Friday. “What the Matiti team did was an outstanding gesture, it was an amazing event, the children really had fun with the games and they enjoyed the soup,” says Bachopi. The Family of Hope Centre was started in 1990 and it provides food and after school classes for kids in the Havana area.
