Mekenificent embarks on regional fitness tour

  Emilie Shimbali

Meke Namindo, an award-winning entrepreneur and the founder of Mekenificent wellness centre, is on a mission to inspire people to be the healthiest versions of themselves.

In order to reach as many people as possible, Namindo is planning a regional fitness tour under the theme ‘Find your fit, sweat towards healthier communities’.

Her main goal is to reach out to communities and promote fitness, health and nutrition.

“In turn, this regional tour contributes to the mental well-being of the communities,” she told VIBEZ!, adding that the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic have accelerated health issues in many people, and in some cases, have led to self-destructive behaviours.

“In our country, lifestyle issues must be addressed seriously because they have serious implications on mental health. This is why I felt compelled to act; just connecting communities, sharing my knowledge, and assisting regional fitness trainers.”

Namindo, who believes in self-investment, said she has observed a large number of people suffering from obesity, depression, anxiety, stress, high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and abdominal obesity.

This is no longer just a business at her Windhoek-based wellness centre, which is instrumental in improving the quality of life of individuals, companies and their families, but for the greater benefit of a healthier nation.

“I am taking this to the rest of the country for the first time.”

Namindo and her team began with limited resources in 2014 and officially started work in 2019 and have since reached over 500 members of the Khomas communities and over 200 online, educating and demonstrating practical methods to reverse lifestyle issues and live comfortably, which she claims has helped her.

She will be assisted by local regional fitness trainers.

The first event is scheduled for Saturday at the Ongwediva Spar parking lot in the Oshana region.

Participants can join for a small fee of N$80.
